Help On Digital Cameras

Sigma 55-200 or 70-300?—by pinback13

Both of these lenses are on sale for the same price at my local camera shop. These are not the APO lenses but the lower quality ones. Has any body owned these lenses or knows for which one i’ll get the most bang for my buck in image quality. Don’t really know if I need up to 300mm but it would be nice if I didn’t have to use a tripod except for in lower night. Let me know any of your opinions. I’m using it for my d80. Continue reading »

I have been wondering the same thing. I wanted a small camera I could carry in my pocket when I didn’t want to lug my larger dslr and lenses. I bought a Canon Powershot A570 IS last night from Amazon. The camera got excellent reviews, it has manual controls as well as numerous scene modes. It has an optical viewfinder. The perfect camera?
I had a crappy little digital point and shoot and used it until the flash broke from over use. I use a Nikon d40x and I think a d300 also a canon digital rebel at school. I love using them all and have taken what I think are pretty good pictures with them. So I think im ready for a digital SLR but I have no idea what to get. Canon Vs Sony?

What’s the difference between the Nikon F3 and the FA?
I already have the Nikon FA, but the F3 seems to be calling out my name too! What are the pros and cons?

Unless you need the interchangeable finders, more ruggedness of a pro body, or a faster motor drive, there is no compelling reason to get the F3 if you already have an FA. The FA is actually far more advanced than the F3. The FA has all 4 standard exposure modes, matrix metering, and a standard ISO flash shoe that works with all Nikon TTL flashes, while the F3 only has aperture priority AE, centerweighted metering, and a proprietary flash shoe limiting you to, I believe 3 Nikon flash models (I have an SB-16B for my F3), or an expensive TTL adapter.
