Sigma 55-200 or 70-300?—by pinback13
Both of these lenses are on sale for the same price at my local camera shop. These are not the APO lenses but the lower quality ones. Has any body owned these lenses or knows for which one i’ll get the most bang for my buck in image quality. Don’t really know if I need up to 300mm but it would be nice if I didn’t have to use a tripod except for in lower night. Let me know any of your opinions. I’m using it for my d80.

it depends on what are you shooting, and the other lens you already have. cause in my opinion, it’s about the focal length you’ll need, it should be no overlap, and no short on it. if you have the 18-70, the 70-300 will be nice, if you have the 18-35,the gap will be quite annoying, so get the 55-200, the extra couple mm in the end won’t be nessecary, IMHO, cause i used to had Nikkor 70-300 G, but in the end i sold it, and change it with the 55-200VR, to match it with my kit lens 18-55. Why not considering the nikkor lenses? it should not so expensive, especially the 55-200 cause it has VR! it’s ton of fun, best regard
